Red Line Synthetic MT-90 is specially designed for manual transmissions and trans-axles.
The relatively constant viscosity over a wide temperature range allows easier shifting and helps prevent whine and rattle at high temperatures.
Most gear oils, ATFs, and motor oils are too slippery for proper synchro engagement - which causes gear clash when shifting.
Most GL-5 gear oils contain reactive sulfur which can chemically wear synchros and shorten synchro life by 50% compared to Red Line MT-90.
MT-90 has a coefficient of friction which is perfect for rapid synchro engagement and allows high-speed up-shifting and down-shifting.
MT-90 is recommended for all manual transmissions and front-wheel drive manual trans-axles which recommend motor oils, or GL-1. GL-3 or GL-4 gear oils. Petroleum multi-grade motor oils and transmission fluids contain polymers which shear down rapidly under the action of gear teeth and rapidly lose viscosity, significantly reducing their lubricating ability.
Red Line MT-90 is shear stable and will retain its physical characteristics for extended periods.
MT-90 meets gear oil viscosity's SAE 75W, 80W, and 90, or motor oil viscosity's SAE 40 and 10W40, and provides gear protection which satisfies API categories GL-1, GL-3 and GL-4.
This product is not designed for use in a rear-wheel drive differential which requires a GL-5 lubricant.
The extreme stability of this product allows use for extended periods.
SAE 75W90 - RECOMMENDED FOR API GL-4
• Quicker upshifting and downshifting
• Perfect synchronizer coefficient of friction
• Eliminates notchy shifting even when cold
• High-performance gear protection
• Lengthens synchronizer life
• Compatible with petroleums and synthetics
• Low fluid friction to improve power transfer
• Suitable for racing and street use
• Excellent for high- and low-mileage transmissions
