QUESTION.
When looking at my Lotus Esprit Turbo recently with the base plate removed the fuel pump looked and sounded worse for wear and was inquiring as to what would be the suitable replacement type?
The Lucas FBD704 is not a choice/available so was looking at a universal fit type like Bosch or Pierburg and also looking at replacing the fuel lines in and out along with the fuel filter and perhaps give the electricals a going over.
Any advice appreciated.

ANSWER.
I am still unsure why you want to change the fuel pump on your Lotus Esprit.
The fuel pump has performed flawlessly on your trip from Lotus Marques in Melbourne to Perth.
As other pumps are often substituted, make sure exactly what should be installed by checking in the Lotus parts list
Lotus made life interesting by fitting various fuel pumps during the production of the Esprit
The Esprit fuel pump installation during production is as follows-
Esprit series 1 and 2 (Dellorto carburettors) = SU electric pump and no pressure regulator (1975 to 1979)
Esprit series 3 N/A and turbo (Dellorto carburettors) = Lucas pump, plus pressure regulator (1980 to 1987)
Esprit series 3 HCi turbo (Bosch K-jetronic) = Bosch pump x 2, plus accumulator (1987 to 1990)
Esprit X180 N/A and turbo (UK domestic configuration Dellorto carburettors) = SU electric pump and no pressure regulator (1988 to 1990)
